This 19th Century French Louis XV Revival Console Table with Fine Parquetry & Ormolu Mounts is a slight piece with wonderful scuptural elements that allow it to function beautifully as a focal point for any hall wall or as an accent piece beneath an elegant wall mirror or as a statement piece in well-curated living room space.
* Solid wood console table with a serpentine facade
* The top showcases meticulous parquetry in a tightly arranged geometric pattern, composed of small, alternating wood blocks
* Parquetry field is framed by a shaped border that follows the serpentine outline and light-toned molded edge band outlines the perimeter.
* Features apron with scalloped front, centered by an applied ormolu mount in the form of crossed foliage with ribbon-like detailing. .
* Each corner knee is adorned with an elaborate ormolu mount composed of scrolling foliage and floral motifs, vertically arranged to accentuate the curvature of the table’s four cabriole legs that taper downward into a fluid arc and terminate in gilt-metal sabots that cap the feet.
* The side profiles reveal a continuous serpentine flow from top to apron to leg, with the parquetry and molding maintaining consistent alignment along the curves.
* Fully finished rear
* Very good vintage condition, with parquetry top showing surface wear consistent with age and use, including scattered scratches, minor scuffs and light abrasions across the table top. Some tonal variation and minor darkened spots. Molded edge band exhibits wear, including small nicks, finish rubbing, and areas of surface discoloration along the perimeter. Ormolu mounts show age-related patina and surface darkening due to minor oxidation. No visible structural breaks.
