A refined and highly decorative pair of French Louis XVI style fauteuil armchairs, executed in a softly distressed celadon green and cream painted finish, exemplifying the restrained neoclassical elegance associated with the late 18th century and its enduring revivals.
Each chair features a medallion (oval) back, crisply framed with beaded molding, leading to gracefully outscrolled arms supported by fluted uprights with carved rosette blocks. The serpentine seat rail is accented with continuous bead detailing, all raised on tapered, fluted legs, consistent with Louis XVI’s architectural vocabulary. The painted surface shows gentle antiquing, enhancing depth and highlighting the carved details.
The chairs are upholstered in a striped floral textile in soft neutral tones—cream, taupe, and muted blush—complementing the painted finish while maintaining a light, elegant palette.
